Sword Hunter Pet Rankings

Pets in Sword Hunter are not a side collection. They walk the islands with you, they help hunts, and they keep value on the account when you close the game. This page ranks the public roster the way the tier list hub ranks everything else: progression power, catch or hatch cost, and offline value. The only rare-rate number we repeat is the 0.01% phoenix. Every other percentage you see on a random thumbnail is not copied here.

You get pets two ways. Hatch them from eggs — Fox Egg and Rainbow Egg both show up as code gifts — or catch them in the world with E when the Catch prompt appears. This page answers a different question: which pet is worth the egg, the luck boost, or the five extra minutes of chasing a wolf.

S — Phoenix (0.01%)

Phoenix is the S-tier pet because the live game calls out a 0.01% chance and because the official art treats it as the rare prize. That grade is a hunt target, not a day-one plan. If you skip steel merges to buy phoenix luck, you will still be on a stick when the bird does not land.

How to treat S:

• Keep a B-tier wolf or fox equipped while you hunt phoenix.
• Spend luck boosts from codes on sessions where you already have a working sword.
• Do not measure your account by phoenix. Measure it by whether loot still converts into merges.

When a phoenix does land, leave it on. Offline value is the point of an S pet. Parking it in a menu while you run a slime is how you waste the 0.01% roll.

A — Rainbow variants

Rainbow variants sit in A. They come from rainbow eggs and from the nicer hatch tables you unlock as you move through caves and new areas. Codes have already handed hunters a Rainbow Egg; that is a real A-tier ticket, not a rumor. Hatch it when you can afford to care about the result, not in the first three minutes while the tutorial still has your camera.

Rainbow is A instead of S because it is obtainable without waiting on 0.01%. It still costs an egg and a hatch. If your merge is stuck on stick-to-steel, cash goes to the merge table first. Pets do not swing the starter blade for you.

B — Wolf and fox

Wolf and fox are the workhorses. You will see them on the tropical islands, on the pet world shots, and in catch prompts that do not require a miracle. Catch wolf is a normal early action: walk up, wait for the prompt, press E, keep hunting. Fox shows up both as a wild catch and as a Fox Egg from the NEWPET-style codes listed on the game page.

B-tier means “equip this without guilt.” A wolf that is actually following you beats an empty slot while you dream about phoenix. Fox is the same idea with a slightly nicer hatch path. Keep one on during monster farms and during offline loot sessions.

If a friend on your 12-player server is also catching wolves, spread out. The island is not a single spawn tile. Online co-op helps when you split packs, not when eight hunters stand on one fox.

C — Slime

Slime is C because it is common, cheap, and still better than nothing. First-hour hunters should take a slime catch instead of walking petless while they wait for S-tier luck. Slime does not stay your endgame partner. The moment a wolf, fox, or rainbow variant is available, swap.

C is not an insult. It is a budget grade. Spend attention on slime, not cash. Cash is for steel.

Gorilla and bird — visible, not guessed

The public roster also includes gorilla and bird. Official overworld shots show them beside wolves, foxes, and slimes. This wiki does not invent a drop percent for either one. Play them as world catches: if the prompt appears and your pet slot is weak, take it. A gorilla pet is not the same creature as the giant red gorilla boss. One is a companion. Bird sits with the open-world catches. If it lands, equip it until something from A or S replaces it. Do not write a fanfic rarity onto it.

Egg cave and where you hatch

The egg cave is the hatch desk most hunters hit after the first islands. Bring codes, bring cash you can spare after a merge, and do not empty the base wallet on a rainbow spam before starter steel exists. The cave is also a travel check: if cave monsters bounce you, your sword rank is not ready and your pet rank will not save the pull.

Luck boosts (LUCKY and similar codes on the Roblox description) belong on hatch sessions, not on empty walks. Redeem with the how to redeem steps, then hatch, then go back to hunting.

Spending order for pets

1. Catch whatever B or C pet the island offers so you are not empty.
2. Hatch Fox Egg / Rainbow Egg from codes.
3. Keep that pet on while you merge swords.
4. Hunt phoenix as a side objective, never as the only objective.
5. Revisit eggs after the purple portal and the mid-game hunter plan have you farming real cash.
